Last night, I voted no on H.R. 6800, Speaker Pelosi’s latest spending proposal. While President Trump and frontline workers are working together to fight this virus, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle see this as an opportunity to pass their partisan wish list. Millions of Americans are out of work, and instead of passing legislation helping them get back to it, my colleagues have decided that mass voting by mail, stimulus checks for illegal aliens, and bailouts for the government were more important. Messaging bills without bipartisan support are an insult to the American people, especially at a time when they are looking to Washington for guidance from their leaders.
I have an important update for widows or widowers who received an Economic Impact Payment that included their deceased spouse. The IRS announced last week that individuals who received an additional payment for a deceased spouse will be asked to return the additional $1,200 to the IRS. This is a reversal from the initial stance of the IRS that previously claimed “there is no provision in the law requiring a repayment of the Payment” on their website’s Economic Impact Payment Information Center.
Please note that, currently, there is no deadline on when such repayments should be made nor is there a way to track whether or not your repayment was received by the IRS. I would encourage everyone to continue to check the IRS’s website for more updates.
Arkansans who received a payment that included an additional $1,200 for a deceased spouse can send their repayment to the following address:

U.S. Reps. Sam Graves (R-MO), ranking member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and Rick Crawford (R-AR) ranking member of the House Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials said Tuesday they support the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administrations announcement it will not seek to change rules on transporting crude oil and other flammable liquids by rail.
U.S. Senators John Boozman and Tom Cotton—along with Congressmen Rick Crawford, French Hill, Steve Womack, and Bruce Westerman—announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded Arkansas over $8 million in coronavirus relief to assist low-income families with energy costs.
Congressman Mike Conaway (TX-11), led 38 cosponsors in introducing the Protecting Life in Crisis Act. This legislation prohibits federal COVID-19 response funds from going towards abortions or abortion coverage by extending existing Hyde Amendment protections to any COVID-19-related healthcare provisions. The bill also prevents federal tax credits from being used to cover any post-employment healthcare (COBRA) premiums that include abortion coverage.
