Congressman Crawford Votes To Advance the 2026 Farm Bill Out of Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Rick Crawford (AR-01), released the following statement in response to the House Committee on Agriculture passing the 2026 Farm Bill out of the House Agriculture Committee:

“Last night, I was proud to join my colleagues on the House Committee on Agriculture and vote to pass the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 out of committee. I applaud Chairman Thompson for his leadership throughout this process, and I cannot overstate how urgently my district needs this Farm Bill.

“For the U.S. to be secure, independent, and healthy, we must be able to feed ourselves and keep our food safe, which is just what our nation’s farmers do. With the American producer at the forefront of our minds, this Farm Bill secured many great wins for agriculture and realigned our nation’s agriculture policy in the right direction. In a bipartisan manner, we successfully restored the Food for Peace program to a focus on U.S. grown commodity purchases, modernized outdated loan limits, expanded access to fruits and vegetables for those in need through GusNIP, and implemented offensive measures to protect Arkansas farmers from overly subsidized Indian rice. That being said, I recognize this legislation will not be sufficient to meet the immediate challenges facing producers. Which is why I am still fighting for advanced PLC payments and payment limitation relief, while also remaining supportive of exploring other avenues for additional direct assistance.

“Though this Farm Bill still has several steps to go before it makes its way to President Trump’s desk, this Committee’s action was a major victory for the farm community. I look forward to voting again for the Farm Bill on the House floor and encourage the Senate to pick up this vital legislation with urgency.”
