Washington — Today, Representative Rick Crawford (AR-01), Chairman of the Congressional Steel Caucus, released the following statement in response to the acquisition of U.S. Steel by Nippon Steel Corporation.

“Today’s announcement regarding the acquisition of U.S. Steel by Nippon Steel Corporation is another chapter in the growth and maturity of the steel industry within the First District of Arkansas. This pending transaction shows how attractive our region is for companies who want to invest in a robust workforce and utilize our regional, multi-modal transportation network. Like other acquisitions of this scale, vigorous and thorough processes should be followed to ensure America’s steel industry remains a leader on the global manufacturing stage.”
