Rep. Crawford Announces Arkansas Delta Oral History Project

Jonesboro — Today, Representative Rick Crawford (AR-01) announced an effort to compile an oral history of African American settlement in the delta region of Arkansas. This effort is being led by the Delta Region Economic Advancement Mission (DREAM) Council with facilitation by Crawford’s office.
They will be collecting information from the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian African American History museum, and other entities. The group also will help facilitate meetings with universities to discuss how to gather and preserve information.
The following councilmembers will be leading this project:

Dr. Blanche Hunt, Vice President of Community Relations Arkansas Northeastern College
Joseph Campbell, Dean for General Education at Arkansas State University-Newport
Lynn Caldwell Hawkins, Chief Officer of Membership & University Partnerships at Arkansas Rural Health Partnership

The Delta Region Economic Advancement Mission (DREAM) Council is a partnership created by Rep. Crawford in 2013 to promote and encourage the economic development of the Arkansas Delta region. The DREAM council consists of local community, business and government leaders and meets regularly with Rep. Crawford to give updates and assessments of what is needed and what is being achieved in the region.
