Rep. Crawford Participates in State of Steel Industry Hearing
7/21/2022
Washington – Yesterday, Representative Rick Crawford (AR-01), Vice Chairman of the Congressional Steel Caucus, joined the Caucus in hosting a hearing on the state of the steel industry.
Rep. Crawford voiced concern over China’s continued adversarial actions toward the U.S. steel industry. Steel industry officials voiced support for Section 232 tariffs, but implored Congress and the Administration to enforce and strengthen current trade laws.
“A robust U.S. steel industry is critical to our nation’s infrastructure, economy, and national security. Unfortunately, steel producers are forced to contend with bad actors who engage in unfair trade practices. I’m glad to once again join my colleagues on the Congressional Steel Caucus to hear from leaders within the steel industry to determine how we as lawmakers can work together to protect good-paying, highly-skilled American jobs,” said Rep. Crawford.
A video of the hearing is available here.
“Northeast Arkansas has a booming steel industry,” Crawford added. “It has the workforce, the infrastructure, and the strategic location to continue to create jobs around steel and related industries. Companies producing steel in Arkansas can compete and win against China and other nations, but we need to give them a level playing field.”
