Congressman Rick Crawford’s Motion to Recommit Passes by House Vote
July 1st, 2020
Washington — Today, the House passed Congressman Crawford’s motion to recommit on H.R. 2, the INVEST in America Act. The MTR amended the base text by preventing funding authorized in this bill from going to Chinese state owned enterprises participating in the Chinese Communist Party’s ongoing genocide against the Uyghurs in Xinjiang.
Upon passage of the MTR Rep. Crawford released the following statement:
“While I am dismayed that the T&I Committee has taken a decidedly partisan turn, I am glad to see a bipartisan majority of the House supports human rights. This motion to recommit fixes flaws in the base Democrat bill that would have allowed for our taxpayer dollars to go to state owned enterprises participating in the CCP’s genocide against the Uyghurs. The United States will always remain committed to self-determination and we today sent a strong message to Beijing that its totalitarianism has been noticed and will not be tolerated.”
