Washington, DC –Yesterday, The United States Agriculture Department (USDA) announced their plan to assist farmers as they work under unjustified retailing tariffs placed on them by China. This plan authorizes the use of up to $12 billion in programs to support farmers.

Following Secretary Perdue’s announcement, Crawford released the following statement:

“Our nation’s farmers perform a task vital to our national security and I appreciate the attention given to their concerns. Ultimately, what is most beneficial for our nation is having partnerships with nations who aren’t deceitful and participating in illegal practices, such as China. Although I’m confident in our ability to build better trade relationships with other nations across the globe come harvest season, the backup plan provided by the USDA will give our farmers the continuity needed while we re-negotiate with other countries.”
