Arkansans Participate in Farm Bill Hearing on Capitol Hill

3/3/2022

Washington  This week, Representative Rick Crawford (AR-01) had the pleasure of introducing two constituents at the House Agriculture Committee hearing entitled, “A 2022 Review of the Farm Bill: Commodity Group Perspectives on Title 1.” Participants gave testimony on their personal experiences from implementation of the 2018 Farm Bill. Such hearings are critical as the Committee drafts the next Farm Bill, slated for reauthorization in 2023, to ensure the legislation meets the needs of our Agriculture producers.

“Having two individuals from the First District of Arkansas provide testimony in this week’s hearing speaks to the importance Arkansas’ role in agriculture on the national scale. I am proud to represent such hardworking farmers who are committed to working with us in Congress to create a brighter future for American agriculture,” said Rep. Crawford.

Rep. Crawford gave the following introductions to the committee:

“Brad Doyle is a farmer from Poinsett County, Arkansas and serves as the president of the American Soybean Association. He has been a member of the ASA board of directors since 2017. In 2017, Brad received the Arkansas Farm Bureau Stanley E. Reed Leadership Award.

The Doyle family has been recognized as ASA Conservation Champions. They have implemented two tail-water recovery and canal systems on their own farm to conserve rainwater, soil, and nutrients. I appreciate the great work they are doing and I’m proud to represent them. Brad, thank you for being here today.”

“Jennifer James is a fourth-generation rice farmer from Newport, Arkansas. She is part owner of H&J Land Company, a diversified family farming operation growing rice, corn, and soybeans. Jennifer and her husband, Greg, farm with Jennifer’s father, Marvin Hare. The family takes great pride in their operation’s commitment to providing overwinter habitat for waterfowl and instituting practices that conserve natural resources. She serves on the USA Rice Federation and USA Rice Farmers Boards of Directors. I appreciate the great work Jennifer and her family are doing and I’m proud to represent them. Jennifer, thank you for being here today.”
