Congressman Crawford Sponsors Responsible Legislation First Week in Office
Congressman Rick Crawford wasted no time before sponsoring legislation in the 112th Congress that will mitigate the harm of Obamacare and curb reckless government spending. Congressman Crawford this week co-sponsored the Small Business Paperwork Mandate Repeal Act and the Balanced Budget Amendment.
“The repeal of 1099 and the Balanced Budget Amendment are two strong steps toward lessening the burden on America’s small businesses and restoring fiscal responsibility to this country,” said Congressman Rick Crawford. “By co-sponsoring these bills, I am working to fulfill my promise to create jobs and bring fiscal sanity to Washington.”
Crawford and his colleagues Wednesday introduced H.R. 144, the Small Business Paperwork Mandate Repeal Act. The bill repeals the job-killing 1099 provision in Obamacare that requires all businesses to report purchases over $600. The mandate will further burden small businesses with unnecessary, costly paperwork that only expands the size of government and creates obstacles for businesses. This legislation is part of the Pledge to America.
Crawford is also a co-sponsor of the Balanced Budget Constitutional Amendment. The amendment demands the federal budget be balanced, requires a 3/5 vote to raise the debt limit, and caps federal spending.
Congressman Rick Crawford is the first Republican elected to represent Arkansas’s First Congressional District since Reconstruction. He serves on the Agriculture and Transportation & Infrastructure Committees. Rick and his wife Stacy, both ASU alumni, reside in Jonesboro with their two children.
