Congressman Rick Crawford (R-AR) released the following statement today on the importance of observing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day:

“It is important we honor this day and not let the significance of Dr. King and his accomplishments fade from our memories – as individuals and as a nation.  Dr. King’s adherence to nonviolence in the pursuit of social justice left an indelible mark on our nation’s history and conscience. Great progress has been made in the struggle for civil rights, equality and social justice and we continue to fight for the rights of all Americans.  Today, we recognize the accomplishments made to date, and rightly attribute much of that progress to Dr. King.”

Congressman Rick Crawford is the first Republican elected to represent Arkansas’s First Congressional District since Reconstruction.  He serves on the Agriculture and Transportation & Infrastructure Committees. Rick and his wife Stacy, both ASU alumni, reside in Jonesboro with their two children.
