Congressman Rick Crawford (R-Ark.) released the following statement regarding today’s passage of the Agriculture Appropriations bill, H.R. 2112:

“I voted in favor of the Agriculture Appropriations bill because it reinforces my commitment to fiscal discipline and continues to protect the important farm safety-net.

The bill is not perfect. Provisions I favor, such as funding the Biomass Crop Assistance Program and upholding our commitments with trading partners, were left out of the legislation. However, I support the bill because it maintains the farm safety-net that ensures a strong, stable and safe food supply. The bill also eliminates burdensome and unneeded regulations that stifle innovation and only stand in the way of job creation. The House once again eliminated unnecessary and wasteful spending to ensure we continue to be careful stewards of taxpayer dollars.

As a Member of the Agriculture Committee, I look forward to writing the next farm bill, which will enhance current policy and support the nutritional needs of all Americans.”
