Congressman Crawford to Vote for CR

Congressman Rick Crawford (R-AR) will vote for the Continuing Resolution when it is brought up for a vote later this week.

“Passage of the Continuing Resolution is critically important to the stability of our country,” said Representative Crawford. “The CR is the first step in reining in government spending so the private sector can thrive and create jobs for our unemployed Americans.”

The CR is being considered under an open amendment process, which allows any Representative to introduce amendments. Each amendment will be voted on separately and if passed will be added to the CR. Currently, there are over 400 amendments introduced.

“I will cast hundreds of votes this week and each vote will be weighed against a set of criteria,” said Representative Crawford. “Before I vote on an amendment I will ask myself three questions: Does this amendment encourage or stifle job creation? Does this amendment grow or shrink the size of government?  Will this amendment improve the outlook for future generations?  If the amendment stifles job creation or expands the size of government, I will not vote for it. Cutting the budget and stopping unnecessary government spending is how we will strengthen our economy and create jobs in the private sector, which is my number one priority.”

Congressman Rick Crawford is the first Republican elected to represent Arkansas’s First Congressional District since Reconstruction.  He serves on the Agriculture and Transportation & Infrastructure Committees. Rick and his wife Stacy, both ASU alumni, reside in Jonesboro with their two children.
