Washington, D.C. – Upon hearing the Justice Department’s decision to create a special counsel to investigate the Russia interference in the 2016 election, and appointment of former FBI Director Robert Mueller to lead the independent investigation, Congressman Rick Crawford, member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, gave the following statement:

“As a former FBI Director of 12 years with a strong track record of independence, Robert Mueller is fully equipped to perform a credible investigation. Deputy U.S. Attorney General Rosenstein has picked the right man for the job, and I believe that Mueller’s nonpartisan work will proceed quickly alongside thorough investigations by the bipartisan Intelligence Committees.”
