Washington — Today, Congressman Crawford and 20 Republicans sent a letter to Speaker Pelosi and Republican Leader McCarthy requesting consideration of policies to help end our dependence on China for critical medical supplies, while opening new markets to American agriculture producers.
Rep. Crawford released the following statement.
“I commend the Trump Administration for working diligently to help our nation’s agriculture producers; however, they cannot do it alone. Congress can enact reforms that simultaneously assist our farmers in their search for new markets and decrease our dependence on other nations for critical medical supplies, like hand sanitizer and personal protective equipment. The Communist Party of China continues to show they are dishonest and malicious, and there is no need to rely on them when we have the raw materials available at home. Now, more than ever, we understand that agriculture security is national security, and we must prioritize policies to that effect.”
Congressman Crawford represents Arkansas’s First District and announced in 2019 his intent to run for the top Republican spot on the House Agriculture Committee which will become vacant next Congress. Crawford has served as the General Farm Commodities Subcommittee Chairman (2014-2018), Livestock, Rural Development and Credit Subcommittee Chairman (2012-2014) and is also a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He is currently serving his fifth term in Congress.
