JONESBORO – Yesterday, Congressman Rick Crawford (AR-01) and Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) led a caravan on Highway 67 to highlight four-lane construction from Poplar Bluff to Little Rock. The caravan, which included representatives from the Arkansas and Missouri Departments of Transportation and local officials, made stops in Poplar Bluff, Corning and Pocahontas.

“Improving our infrastructure in Northeast Arkansas will encourage business growth and create jobs for our region. Poplar Bluff is seeing the benefit of making Highway 67 a four lane road, now we have to do our part in Arkansas to complete the project,” said Crawford. “We have a great partner in Jo Ann Emerson from Missouri. She understands that commerce does not stop at the state line and I look forward to working with her on projects that will create new economic opportunities for Northeast Arkansas and Southern Missouri.”

Crawford was honored to welcome Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson to Arkansas.

“Highway 67 is really a lifeline for the communities between Little Rock and Poplar Bluff.  A lot of local economies depend on the access to workforces and markets all over Southern Missouri and Arkansas,” Emerson said. “I’m very pleased to be joined by my colleague Rick Crawford from Arkansas.  He really understands the role of Congress in guiding highway infrastructure projects and making sure we have ample support for economic opportunities in rural America.”

Crawford is a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee where he strongly advocates for improving roads and bridges throughout Northeast Arkansas.

Corning Mayor Dewayne Phelen, Congressman Rick Crawford, Northeast Arkansas Intermodal Authority Executive Director Wayne Gearhart , and Corning Alderman Blake Johnson participated in the Highway 67 Caravan from Poplar Bluff to Pocahontas.
