Crawford grills GSA Official
Apr 17, 2012National Debt and Spending Crawford questioned officials about spending $832,000 on a Las Vegas conference
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Rick Crawford grilled Robert Peck, the former General Services Administration Public Buildings Services Commissioner, over A pattern of wasteful spending from the agency.
Crawford questioned Peck during a Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee hearing in the wake of recent revelations about an $823,000 GSA conference in Las Vegas, a wasteful employee award program that handed out hundreds of thousands of dollars in iPods, electronics, gift cards and other prizes, an intern conference at a luxurious Palm Springs spa, a junket to Hawaii for a simple ribbon-cutting, and other scandals.

Crawford demanded answers about a $30,000 pool party, a GSA official staying in 2,400 square foot hotel suite in Las Vegas and a $2,000 bill for a “private” party – all paid for with taxpayer dollars.
“The wasteful and abusive spending culture of the GSA makes me sick. This is exactly the reason why Americans do not have faith in their government,” said Crawford. “While families in my district are struggling, GSA officials are squandering taxpayer dollars at lavish Las Vegas parties. We must break the culture of waste and abuse that has become second nature at GSA.”
