Crawford Receives Benjamin Franklin Award for Support of Death Tax Repeal

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Rick Crawford (R-AR), issued the following statement after The 60 Plus Association, a national senior citizen’s organization, awarded the Congressman the Benjamin Franklin Award for his support of estate tax repeal:

“This tax threatens farmers and small businesses; it is a job killer and must be repealed. Hard-working families who choose to pass their businesses down to posterity shouldn’t be prevented from doing so. The death tax causes capital-rich family farms and small businesses to be broken up and sold off bit by bit, rather than encouraging them to grow from generation to generation, creating jobs. This is the wrong approach for America, and I am proud to support death tax repeal.”

James L. Martin, Chairman of The 60 Plus Association, stated:

“Rep. Crawford knows that the death tax is an unfair tax. Senior citizens know they can always depend on Rep. Crawford to abolish this painful tax on family-owned businesses. This ‘temporary’ tax is anti-small business, anti-farmer, and is also a job-robbing confiscatory tax that should have been repealed nearly 100 years ago.”
