Crawford Statement on Passage of Continuing Resolution
Congressman Rick Crawford (AR-1) issued the following statement after the House passed a Continuing Resolution (CR) that will fund the government at current levels while blocking the use of funding for the implementation of ObamaCare:
“The House has now done its part to represent the will of the American people by stopping any further implementation of ObamaCare. This law is a job-killing train wreck that will add $1.3 trillion to the debt over the next 10 years. Families, small businesses, and healthcare professionals have already begun to feel the heavy burden of this law long before its implementation, cutting hours and wages for employees that will only continue once this law fully takes hold.
“Although I believe we must use every possible avenue in our power to stop or delay this looming juggernaut, I also firmly believe we must do so without taking action to shut down the government. In light of this, I am crafting legislation that would simultaneously place pressure on the Senate and President to act through a series of short-term extensions that fund the government, while requiring a vote from Senate Democrats that charging ahead with the $1.3 trillion in new entitlement spending in ObamaCare makes sense for our country.
“I believe this approach is the best way forward to take threat of a government shutdown off the table while giving the American people the opportunity to hear directly from the President and Senate why they believe it makes sense to follow through with the implementation of this disastrous law.”
