Crawford Statement on Passage of Nutrition Reform and Work Opportunity Act
Congressman Rick Crawford (AR-1), a member of the House Agriculture Committee, issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 3103, the Nutrition Reform and Work Opportunity Act:
“I am pleased the House has taken the final step toward conference committee with the Senate on this year’s critical Farm Bill legislation. This bill implements substantive reforms that are designed to crack down on those that abuse the system, while preserving these vital taxpayer funds for those who truly need it. I am confident this bill will strengthen the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and ensure its solvency for years to come.
“As I have said, this Farm Bill process has not been my preferred route, nor has it been the traditional approach. However, thanks in no small part to Chairman Lucas’ extraordinary leadership, today we have arrived at the important milestone of conference committee. I look forward to beginning the process of hammering out our differences with the Senate and moving the process forward toward putting in place a full, five-year Farm Bill.”
