Crawford Votes Against Latest Spending Spree
9/30/2022
Washington — Representative Rick Crawford (AR-01) voted today against a stopgap funding bill that will keep the federal government funded through December 16th. The bill includes billions of dollars in new spending above current levels.
“After pushing our economy to the brink of recession with reckless and inflationary spending, House Democrats are now cramming additional new spending onto the backs of taxpayers.” Rep. Crawford said. “American families in this Biden economy are struggling with record high inflation, rising violent crime, sharply increased home mortgage rates, and soaring energy costs. Yet none of the provisions in this bill will help address these concerns.”
H.R. 6833 includes the following:
- Nearly $2 billion for Refugee and Entrant money to fund more economic migrants illegally crossing Biden’s open border, yet provides no additional money for border security or our Customs and Border Protection officers.
- $12.3 billion additional funds in economic and military support for Ukraine, without measures to track how the latest billions will be spent.
- Funds the government only through December 16th, setting up yet another shutdown showdown.
“As members of Congress we are expected to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars, but this legislation fails unequivocally to meet that promise,” Rep. Crawford added.
