Washington, DC – Today, the House and Senate Farm Bill conferees formally met for the first time to begin discussions on the 2018 Farm Bill. The conference committee will work to put together a final product that combines the House and Senate versions of the bill. The current Farm Bill programs are set to expire on September 30th.

Upon the first meeting, Rep. Crawford released the following statement:

“I am privileged to be a part of this important process which has a profound impact on the lives of Arkansans. It is important that we deliver a final product to the President that ensures we remain food secure, gives a substantial safety net to our farmers, develops better trade, and makes sure those who need SNAP benefits most are receiving them. The passage of the 2018 Farm Bill is an important step to ensure the US remains a food secure nation.”
