Rep. Crawford on GDP Report: “Biden’s runaway inflation and shrinking economy spell disaster for rural America”

Washington — Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce reported that the economy contracted 0.9% in the second quarter of 2022, after shrinking 1.6% in the first quarter. This marks the second quarter in a row that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has fallen – confirming that America is in a recession.

“Families in rural America, already being hammered by President Biden’s runaway inflation, must now contend with the Biden recession. He stacked his Administration with Leftist ideologues, but few have an understanding of rural America, let alone an affinity for it. My constituents are paying the price for this disconnect,” Representative Rick Crawford (AR-01) responded.

Ohio State researchers report that inflation is slamming rural families far worse than urban families. Meanwhile, the same White House that told us inflation was merely “transitory” is now telling us the recession is not a recession.

“President Biden and the Congressional Democrats who do his bidding clearly have no solutions for the U.S. economy. In fact, they seem completely divorced from the concerns of middle class families,” Crawford added.

“The hype about Joe Biden was that he would bring quiet competence to the White House. Instead, we have indifference and incompetence. I will continue to work to defeat his economic policies and press for a complete overhaul of his failed economic team,” Crawford concluded.
