Rep. Crawford Responds to December Jobs Report

1/7/2022

Washington  The Labor Department reported today that payrolls rose by just 199,000 last month, still nearly three million jobs shy of pre-COVID days, with more than two million people having totally left the job market.

The department also reported on wage gains, which show Americans have seen a more than 2% real wage cut since President Biden was inaugurated. (While wages are rising, prices for food, home heating, gas, new and used cars, and much else are rising significantly faster.)

Representative Rick Crawford (AR-01) released the following statement in response to these released reports.

“The Biden-Pelosi inflation tax is making Americans poorer, as wage gains can’t keep pace with runaway price increases,” said Rep. Crawford. “Perhaps the President and House Speaker should exit their bubble of wishful thinking, and visit a supermarket or try to buy a used car. Then they would see what their lackadaisical approach to our nation’s economy, and counter-productive COVID policies, are doing to working families.”
