Rep. Crawford Responds to Latest Inflation Report

Washington — Today, Representative Rick Crawford (AR-01) released the following statement in response to news that inflation surged 7 percent in 2021, making it the fastest rate of increase in 40 years. This exceeds middle class wage gains for the year, meaning that real wages for working families have declined 2% since President Biden took office. This inflation rate is also significantly higher than the 5.9% cost of living increase recently provided to Social Security beneficiaries.

“It has been almost one year since President Biden was sworn in and in that year, we have seen inflation soar to record heights many American workers haven’t seen in their lifetime. Families and retirees have been pushed into uncertainty as they watch the buying power of their wages and social security checks slashed by the Biden inflation tax. Our leaders in Washington should no longer turn a blind eye to these reports, but rather come together to address this pressing issue that is causing turmoil for our nation’s citizens,” said Rep. Crawford.
