Rick Crawford was sworn in today as the first Republican congressman from Arkansas’s First Congressional District since Reconstruction. The following is a statement released by Congressman Crawford:

“I am honored to be sworn in as Arkansas’s First District congressman. In November, the First District spoke out against reckless government spending, record-high unemployment, and Washington’s irresponsible leadership. Today I took an oath to truly represent the needs of Arkansas and my constituents. I am ready to get to work creating jobs, reducing the debt, and sponsoring sensible legislation that will help – instead of harm – Americans. I am thankful to share this day with my wife, children, and extended family.”

Congressman Rick Crawford is the first Republican elected to represent Arkansas’s First Congressional District since Reconstruction.  He serves on the Agriculture and Transportation & Infrastructure Committees. Rick and his wife Stacy, both ASU alumni, reside in Jonesboro with their two children.
