Congressional Art Competition
Each spring, the Congressional Art Competition sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives recognizes and encourages the artistic talent of high-school students throughout Arkansas’ 1st Congressional District. The “Best-in-Show” winning piece is displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol, and its student artist will receive paid airfare for two to travel to Washington D.C. to attend the national Congressional Art Competition winners’ reception.
I am always excited to participate in this annual event and be able to showcase the winning artwork of the talented students in Arkansas’ first congressional district. First place winners from eight medium categories are chosen and an overall winner. The overall winner’s artwork will be displayed in Washington, D.C with all the other winners from this national competition.
