Higgins, Crawford Lead Call for U.S.-Iraq Rice Tender
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) and Congressman Rick Crawford (R-AR) led a bipartisan letter to U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Matthew Tueller, urging him to work with Iraq's Minister of Trade to announce and execute a U.S.-specific rice tender under the terms of the U.S.-Iraq Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Since the first MOU was signed in 2016, the U.S. has shipped 390,000 tons of American rice to Iraq.

Today, Rep. Rick Crawford (AR-01) was appointed as Vice Republican Leader on the House Agriculture Committee by Republican Leader Glenn "GT" Thompson, of Pennsylvania. Representative Thompson was elected by the Republican Steering Committee in December to lead the Agriculture Committee in the 117th Congress. Representative Crawford will also serve on the following three Subcommittees:

These orders include a travel ban from an array of countries as well as a freeze on Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) funding. Applications for CFAP have only been open to producers for a few weeks before coming to a halt and are a critical lifeline for those who work tirelessly to ensure American families have adequate food to put on the table.
