Congressman Rick Crawford (R-AR) released the following statement this morning regarding the Department of Labor's unemployment report for June 2012:
"After 41 months of unemployment above 8 percent, it is clear that our economy is not doing fine. At home this week in Arkansas I have heard from families, small business owners and even young people who are concerned about our stagnant economy. Young people are having trouble finding work and small business owners are afraid to hire.

Unfortunately, the Senate Farm Bill passed today takes a ‘one-size-fits-all' approach to agricultural production, and applies a Midwest insurance risk-management model to the entirety of U.S. agriculture. The House Farm Bill must be fair to every region of the United States – not just a single region. Farming in the Arkansas Delta involves unique production methods. The Mid-South largely uses irrigation methods, which reduces production risk and yield variability.

WASHINGTON D.C. - Congressman Rick Crawford, along with U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman, today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture will expand the Biomass Crop Assistance Program (BCAP) Area in northeast Arkansas. This project, authorized by the 2008 Farm Bill, sets aside nearly 8,000 acres to grow crops that will be processed into renewable energy.
