JONESBORO- Today, Congressman Rick Crawford issued the following statement about the expiration of the current Farm Bill:
"Since my election to Congress I have talked about the importance of passing a Farm Bill that would give farm families in Arkansas and across the country the security they need to continue producing the safest, most affordable and abundant supply of food on the planet. Unfortunately, election year politics have gotten in the way of enacting sound policies on which rural America depends."
Today, Congressman Rick Crawford joined a bipartisan group of House members in signing a discharge petition to force a House vote on the Farm Bill. If 218 House members sign the discharge petition, House leaders would be forced to allow a vote on the Farm Bill that passed the House Agriculture Committee on a bipartisan 35-11 vote.
"The Blytheville Airport in my district provides the region with an important option for commerce and travel. The funds from the Department of Transportation will make the airport safer for years to come," Crawford said.
