At each stop on the Farm Tour producers told Crawford they need a five year Farm Bill to forecast operation costs and provide certainty. Agriculture is the number one industry in Arkansas and Crawford is the state's only representative on the House Agriculture Committee. Crawford believes a strong Farm Bill is essential to growing Arkansas's rural economy.

Today, Congressman Rick Crawford cast a vote in support of America's family farmers. Crawford joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers in voting to pass H.R. 6233: Supplemental Agricultural Disaster Assistance. The legislation passed the House of Representatives with a vote of 222 to 197.

Today, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 3158, the Farmers Undertake Environmental Land Stewardship Act, sponsored by Congressman Rick Crawford, (R-AR). The legislation will modify the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Oil Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) rule that places an unnecessary burden on farmers and ranchers. The bipartisan legislation will now move to the Senate.

Today, Congressman Rick Crawford voted to reduce excessive red tape and other bureaucratic burdens that prevent small business owners from hiring new workers and growing the economy. The Red Tape Reduction and Small Business Job Creation Act (H.R. 4078) passed the House of Representatives today and now awaits action from the Senate.

Congressman Rick Crawford joined a bipartisan group of 62 House members urging House leaders to bring the Farm Bill (H.R. 6083) to a vote before August. The House Agriculture Committee passed the Farm Bill by a strong bipartisan vote of 35 to 11 on July 12th.

Congressman Rick Crawford joined U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman today to announce that the Batesville Regional Airport will receive a $2,324,472 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for improvements and new construction projects at their facility.
"The Batesville Airport is a regional transportation hub that helps area businesses grow. These federal dollars will extend the runway and allow the airport to continue helping small businesses in Independence County and the surrounding areas get their goods to market," Crawford said.
