Today, Congressman Rick Crawford (R-AR), led a bipartisan coalition of House members in re-introducing the Farmers Undertake Environmental Land Stewardship Act, or FUELS Act. The legislation would modify the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Oil Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) rule that places an unnecessary burden on farmers and ranchers. The FUELS Act passed the House of Representatives in August of 2012 without a single dissenting vote, but stalled in the Senate.

Today, Congressman Rick Crawford, Senator Mark Pryor and Senator John Boozman announced 23 counties in Arkansas's First Congressional District have been declared primary or contiguous disaster counties by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) after last year's record drought. The disaster designation will give farm families access to assistance from USDA's Farm Service Agency.

On the first day of 2013, the House of Representatives voted to pass the Senate's so-called deal to avert the ‘fiscal cliff'. The Congressional Budget Office has predicted the Senate's deal will add nearly $4 trillion to the national debt over the next ten years. Ultimately I could not vote to support the Senate fiscal cliff plan because it did not do anything to address our nation's spending problem. Permanent spending controls are needed to ensure this Congress, and all future Congresses, do not spend our children and grandchildren into oblivion.
